Balancing your energy with the elements

Here I will attempt to give some practical pointers to help people to balance the elements within them.

Balance fire:  cooling foods: raw, sprouted, cool colours
appropriate warmth, good light, sit in the sunshine, show love to those you love, deepen intimacy through making space for another, and accepting them as they are unconditionally, be romantic,  have fun, do things you are passionate about, have a sense of humour, practice gratitude, being present in the moment , add more colour into your life through flowers, paintings, clothing, furniture, self-expression through creativity, loving physical contact, more hugs and kisses, massage, caressing. Cultivating spirituality through deeply thinking about Gd and his presence in the world and through prayer. Good quality fire, candles, a fire place, a bonfire, the sun, cultivate childlike joyfulness in the fun that you have. Loving compassionate, warm physical touch.

Balancing earth: balanced food: food that comes from deep in the earth such as root vegetables that are usually naturally sweet, eat organic and plant based foods from the grown with good soil, in season
Cultivate stability, through being consistent with your practices, its better to do a little bit consistently every day then a lot and then stop. Chew well! Eat warm food, take out processed, refined, chemical food from your diet, self-love, do things every day for you, express your needs, get rid of your clutter, watch less tv to keep your brain free of clutter too, make sure your home is free of dampness, taste good food

Change the ‘I have to’s’ to ‘I get to’s’. Create a stable regular routine for yourself and add exercise into it that you enjoy. Use clay, bricks, cement and stone in your house, do gardening, autumn colours, feel the ground under your feet, make contact with the earth. Tune your instincts, cut through worrying. You already know the right action for you. The 3 second rule (ask your self a question and then notice the first answer that comes, if it takes more than 3 seconds it will come from thought not instinct).

Balance water: Eat mineral rich foods, and small dark beans, seaweeds, good quality water. (see recipe: miso soup)

Water runs deep, its emotions and wisdom, source of all growth; the beginning of growth is the underground bit, going inwards and down words, self-reflection and rejuvenation.

Rest well, sleep well, quiet and peace, keep warm if you are easily chilled, liberate trapped energy but expressing your fears or thoughts with someone who you know is present for you, protect your back, don’t do exercise that drains you, slow down, embrace stillness, hear good music, colours, blue and black, water and glass in your home, sit by the sea, lake or river, fish tanks, go swimming, drink water, listen to the sound of the sea, tap into your deep wisdom, mediate on things you know to be true and real.

Balance air: breathe deeply – ‘neshima’ (breath in Hebrew) is the same word as neshama (soul in Hebrew)– only thing that is external and internal, you can change a lot with your breath, oxygen is the no.1 nutrient, let go of what needs letting go of and embrace the new things, beginnings and endings, circles, smell beautiful things, look at beautiful things in nature, how appreciation for the people around you, eat more pungent and sour foods, cry if you have held back tears, and let go, forgiveness, expression of anger in a healing way, healthy boundaries, talk things through, work on your ability to be flexible, like the air it blows anywhere, like the waves, there is a time for this and a time for that,

Having the ability to expand and contract, the rise to what the occasion is asking for is a sign of balanced health and strength.

A time to be born and a time to die
a time to plant and a time to reap
a time to kill and a time to heal
a time to break down and a time to build up
a time to weep and a time to laugh
a time to mourn and a time to dance
a time to cast away stones and a time to gather them together
a time to embrace and a time to refrain
a time to get and a time to lose a time to keep and a time to cast away
a time to rend and a time to sew
a time to keep silent and a time to speak
a time to love and a time to hate
a time for war and a time for peace.

Being aware of imbalance is the first step to moving towards balance, knowing you are sick is half of the cure.
