Recipe: Toasted nuts and seeds

Toasting nuts, seeds and seaweeds is a great way to make lots of different condiments and to add a crunch and flavor to any dish.

 

Some tips:

- If you are dry roasting in the oven make sure that you watch the oven carefully as they can burn very easily. 15-17 min in usually perfect to getting them golden and flavorful. more then that burns.

- The nuts and seeds will keep cooking in the oven after you have switched it off if its hot, so take them out, or alternatively turn them off when they are not quite done and leave them in to finis off.

- Try adding some sea salt or any other herbs or spices you fancy

- If you washed or soaked the seeds previously it may be worth drying them out before roasting either by putting them in an oven at 50 degrees until dry or spreading them out and leaving them over night.

- Keep them in an air tight container when they have cooled down so they keep there freshness

- try pan roasting with a dash of tamari or soy sauce
